Inspection based on specification

Control What Can Change Before Shipment

Vermicompost quality control works best when the approved sample, written specification, test plan, packing instructions and shipment lot are linked before inspection starts.

Quality Control Should Follow the Written Specification

Feedstock/source

Confirm the offered product is based on the agreed buffalo-manure feedstock and review obvious contamination or mixing risks.

Maturity & presentation

Compare general appearance, odour expectation, visible foreign matter and screened presentation with the approved sample/specification.

Moisture

Use the buyer's agreed method and acceptance criteria if moisture is a contractual parameter.

Laboratory parameters

Arrange agreed testing for pH, organic carbon, nutrient values, pathogens, heavy metals or other parameters only where the buyer/destination requires them.

Packing

Check bag material, printing/marking, net-weight checks, closures and lot identification against the released packing specification.

Shipment

Confirm visible container condition, lot identity, bag count/condition and loading arrangement before closure where loading supervision is ordered.

Screening and Finished-Product Check

Mechanical screening can remove oversize material and improve consistency of finished presentation. But machine type alone does not guarantee quality. Inspect the actual output and compare it with the agreed sample and screen/particle-size requirement.

A buyer who knows the machinery should be shown photographs/video of the supplier's actual equipment during due diligence, rather than a generic catalogue image.

Pre-Shipment Packed-Stock Inspection

A packed-stock inspection should be tied to the released order specification. Depending on the buyer's instruction, checks can include lot identification, bag condition, artwork/marking, net-weight sampling, closure quality, count, visible storage condition and readiness for loading.

Photographs document visible condition at the time of inspection. They do not replace laboratory testing for properties that cannot be verified visually.

Container Loading Supervision

Loading is the final opportunity to confirm that the released lot is actually entering the container. The inspection scope can include container number/condition, visible cleanliness and dryness, bag count, bag condition, lot/marking and loading sequence.

Quality Control FAQs

What can be checked visually during vermicompost inspection?

Visible checks can include general appearance, obvious foreign matter, bag condition, markings, closure, stock segregation, warehouse condition, count and loading arrangement. Laboratory properties require an agreed sampling and test method.

How should laboratory testing be handled?

The buyer should specify the parameters, method or standard where applicable, laboratory requirement and acceptance criteria before sampling. Results should be tied to the agreed lot/sample procedure.

Can moisture be judged by hand?

A hand feel may flag an obvious issue but should not replace an agreed moisture test when moisture is a contractual quality parameter.

What is checked during container loading?

Typical buyer-specified checks can include container condition, visible cleanliness/dryness, correct lot, bag count, bag condition, markings and the agreed loading arrangement.
